HR Games Information
I hope your spring break was great! As you all know, the Dallas
conference is around the corner, Friday, March 31. This is why we need for
those people that are going to this trip to meet with the officers this
coming Tuesday, March 28, at 3p.m., room 329 of COBA.
Please bring your flight number and departure times for EL Paso -Dallas and
Dallas-El Paso, in order for us to plan our trip.
Details about the conference, hotel, transportation, costs, and money that
will be used to defray our trip costs will be discussed. Its is HIGHLY
important for you to attend this meeting. If you are unable to attend please
contact Fernando Burgos at 203-3782 cell or 594-2817 after 9p.m.
Brown Bag Resume Workshop
We are a very active chapter, and this week besides our conference we have a
Brown Bag Resume Workshop. Please bring your lunch and your draft resume
Wednesday, March 29, 2000 at 1:30 room 323 (Its only an hour long).
Nick Zweig from Career Services will help you prepare a
professional Resume. This will be a
great opportunity to get a final resume critique for those graduating on
May! And for the rest of us, it is always good to have a good, professional,
and up-to-date resume for that internship, co-op or summer work :)

Fall 1999 News
- SHRM presented it's 5th Semi Annual Resume and
Interview seminar
on Saturday, november 20, 1999
9:00 am to 1:30 pm
Neill Auditorium
College of Business (first floor)
The seminar was designed to teach effective strategies to interview
and improve your
resume. There were be several speakers talking about this topics.
Moreover,
some agencies accepted resumes. So, if you were looking for a
job,
you might have found one.
Nick Sweig from Career Services was there critiquing resumes.
Some of the topics included:
Resume Preparation
Interview Preparation with guest speakers
Career Services
Dress for Success Presentation
Mock Interviews with Audience
This seminar was free for all UTEP students and FREE lunch was be
provided.
Lets take this seminar as an opportunity to prepare for our future job
hunt.
Just remember, "Today's preparation determines tomorrow's
achievement"
- November 1999 SHRM Meeting: We discussed all aspects of the
seminar for November 20.
- October 1999 SHRM Meeting: Was a success. Elisa Patino, our
program director invited a guest speaker on Wednesday October 20. Kathy
Anderson is the Training Specialist for the El Paso Electric
Company. She spoke about Leadership; dealing with difficult employees;
ask the right questions; make the right decisions; The emotional competence
framework, and more...We thank her for her professionalism and time spent
with our student chapter.
